Role details The Women's and Children's Services at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Nurse Unit Manager (Sexual Assault) to join their team on a temporary basis. Your opportunity The Nurse Unit Manager (Sexual Assault) is an employee who is a registered nurse who: Is appointed to an advanced practice nursing position; and Demonstrates a specialised clinical expertise and/or specialised skill set. Classification may include but is not limited to: Responsibility for explicit professional portfolio content and context expertise. Expertise in the provision of direct care and/or support of systems and/or education and/or professional leadership. Consultation and provision of professional advice. Responsibility for a cohort of staff reporting to the position. and/or education and research advice. About the Team Mackay HHS Sexual Assault Service sits within the Operational area of the HHS. The Sexual Assault Service provides a timely, trauma informed response to people disclosing sexual assault across the Hospital and Health Service catchment. The service is a multidisciplinary, interagency group of specialist professionals, established to work collaboratively alongside victims-survivors of sexual violence to provide a response that is trauma informed, medically/forensically responsive, culturally appropriate, and one that addresses the ongoing psychosocial needs of persons reporting sexual assault. This service and model of intervention uses a team approach to implement a coordinated, wrap-a-round, 24-hour support service for victims-survivors of sexual assault.
