About The Role National Intermodal is seeking a Strategic Advisor Standards & Performance to join our team in Sydney, CBD. Reporting to the Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) as the second-in-command, you will drive strategic and operational priorities across Sustainability, Planning, and Environment (SP&E). This role will develop and refine internal frameworks across SP&E project lifecycles, embed continuous learning, and provide expert guidance on performance management, standards adherence, and operational effectiveness. You will collaborate with the Delivery team to position National Intermodal as a leader in sustainable urban design and environmental excellence. What You’ll Be Doing Designing and delivering planning and environment frameworks to ensure consistent, continuously improved processes for all planning activities. Supporting policy, governance, processes, reporting, and toolkits, enhancing procedures from feasibility to decommissioning. Providing strategic advice and project assurance to SP&E teams, refining position papers for CSO decision-making. Building effectiveness between planning, environment, and sustainability teams and the wider organization, including the Project Management Office and Delivery teams. Analysing performance data, developing improvement strategies, and ensuring compliance with standards and regulations, maintaining meaningful dashboards. Preparing clear Board and Executive Management briefing papers as required and leading procurement for CSO-approved projects. Acting as an initial escalation point for operational and strategic issues, assisting the CSO with internal and external SP&E stakeholder engagement. About You Degree in planning, environmental science, natural resources, environmental engineering, or similar discipline, or equivalent experience (15 years). Extensive experience in major projects, construction, infrastructure, and/or public-private partnerships. Deep knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements, including Planning, Environment, Transport, and the EPBC Act 1999, in NSW, VIC, or QLD. Proven leadership and project management experience in major infrastructure, with expertise in budget, contract, and contractor management. Demonstrated ability to resolve complex regulatory and environmental issues, with strong sustainable procurement capabilities. Track record of leading engaged, motivated teams with high-level communication and negotiation skills to influence effectively. Ability to translate strategy into action, with a values-based, collaborative leadership style, hands-on delivery when needed, and a commitment to integrity and governance.
