Smookin Camel, Byron Bay’s vibrant Middle Eastern-inspired dining venue, is looking for an experienced Chef to join our creative and passionate kitchen team. Known for our bold flavours, wood-fired cooking, and contemporary approach to traditional dishes, we are seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings both skill and flair to the plate. Key Responsibilities Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes to menu specifications. Assist in the development of seasonal menus and specials, contributing creativity and innovation. Maintain stock control, ordering, and portion management to minimise waste and maximise quality. Supervise and support kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient service. Uphold food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards. Collaborate with the Head Chef and front-of-house team to deliver an exceptional dining experience. What We’re Looking For Proven experience as a Chef in a busy restaurant environment (Middle Eastern or wood-fired cooking highly regarded). Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent). Strong organisational and time-management skills. Ability to lead, motivate, and support a kitchen team. Passion for food, creativity, and delivering consistently high standards.
