Your new role As Senior Advisor, Research Governance and Ethics, you will be at the heart of a national initiative to elevate the standards of research governance and ethical practice across a diverse landscape. This is a strategic and hands-on role where your expertise will shape how research is conducted, reviewed, and approved—ensuring it meets the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability. You’ll lead the day-to-day operations of a high-performing team, overseeing frameworks and services that support researchers, institutions, and stakeholders in navigating complex ethical and governance requirements. Your work will directly influence how research is planned, approved, and executed across multiple sectors, with a strong emphasis on collaboration, continuous improvement, and stakeholder engagement. Key aspects of your role include: Operational Leadership: Guide the delivery of core services including ethics review coordination, stakeholder support, and governance frameworks. Ensure outputs are coherent, timely, and aligned with strategic priorities.Policy and Process Development: Design, refine, and implement policies, procedures, and resources that uphold ethical standards and regulatory compliance. Your work will help shape national benchmarks for responsible research conduct.Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor and first point of escalation for internal and external stakeholders. You’ll facilitate forums, dialogues, and knowledge exchange initiatives that promote best practice and build trust.Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with governing bodies, research institutions, and service users to ensure the organisation’s ethics and governance offerings remain relevant, accessible, and informed by real-world needs.Continuous Improvement: Evaluate user experience and service performance, identifying opportunities for innovation and refinement. What you'll need to succeed To excel in this role, you’ll bring: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.Substantial experience in research governance and/or ethics, with a strong understanding of national research regulations and approval processes.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and negotiate across diverse stakeholders.Strong organisational skills, including time management, prioritisation, and decision-making.A proactive, evidence-based approach to problem-solving and continuous learning.
