About the Role The Deli & Bakery Specialist is responsible for the overall management of the Fresh Food (Deli & Bakery) departments including the achievement of budgeted Sales, Gross Profit, Wages and Cost Control, whilst executing and developing buying, marketing and merchandising plans. What You'll Be Doing Operations & Financial Performance Achieve and exceed sales budgets and gross profit targets Drive initiatives to improve GP % and $ across all stores Ensure operational standards are met and exceeded with a focus on compliance Deliver on income targets through effective promotional spend and execution Product Range Develop and deliver a product range that align with business objectives Review and evaluate product performance to ensure continuous improvement Forecast sales performance and optimise promotional calendars to drive results Manage end-to-end supplier campaigns across all retail touchpoints Supplier Negotiation & Relationship Management Build strong supplier partnerships to deliver effective promotional strategies Negotiate trading terms and activation initiatives Identify and execute new opportunities to increase revenue and margin Stakeholder Engagement Collaborate closely with store teams, suppliers, logistics Understand local store demographics and tailor activity to customer needs Ensure smooth cross-functional implementation of promotional programs What You Bring to the Table 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within FMCG or retail Strong commercial acumen and supplier negotiation experience Demonstrated success in strategic planning and end-to-end project delivery Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and data-driven decision-making Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all stakeholder levels Ability to balance structure with flexibility in a fast-moving retail environment Why Join Spano’s IGA?
