Overview The Haven Day Centre is a small, community-based organisation providing meaningful day respite and social connection for older adults living with dementia. Operating in the heart of Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, The Haven has supported clients and their carers for over 40 years through a unique model of care grounded in dignity, compassion, and creativity. We foster a warm, inclusive environment where people are known, valued, and engaged—often through art, music, conversation, and shared meals. Today, we are on a journey of renewal: building our profile, strengthening our governance, and exploring new funding models to ensure our impact endures well into the future. The Opportunity We are seeking a Non-Executive Director to join our passionate and dedicated Board. As a Director, you will play a vital role in guiding the strategic direction, sustainability, and governance of the organisation. You will join at a pivotal moment as The Haven embarks on delivering a refreshed strategic plan, expands its community partnerships, and evolves its model to meet the changing needs of older adults and their families. This is a voluntary position with an initial 3-year term (renewable), and an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to a deeply values-led organisation. About You We are keen to hear from individuals who are: Purpose-driven, with a commitment to enhancing the lives of people living with dementia Experienced in one or more of the following areas: aged care, dementia support, clinical governance, fundraising, marketing, or community engagement Collaborative and curious, bringing fresh ideas and thoughtful oversight Comfortable in a hands-on, small-organisation setting Based in Boronia (hybrid attendance available) We are especially interested in candidates who reflect the diversity of the community we serve and bring professional experience in clinical governance as it relates to ageing, caregiving, or dementia.
