To ensure its longevity, the Tangara Fleet Life Extension project will upgrade operating systems, modernise onboard passenger information systems, and enhance accessibility features for mobility-impaired passengers. In this role, you'll: Be part of the Safety Risk & Assurance Service Delivery Team supporting the Tangara Fleet Life Extension (TFLE) project at Flemington Maintenance Centre, where you'll play a pivotal role in leading WHS initiatives and embedding best practices to ensure safety compliance throughout the project. Lead and embed a positive safety culture and act as a visible safety leader, influencing stakeholder performance to foster a proactive safety focussed mindset. Provide safety, risk and assurance advice and support throughout the project including risk assessment and safety process implementation, monitoring effectiveness and adapting new approaches as needed. You'll also provide expert advice to managers to support WHS and risk based decision making, continuous improvement and alignment with both Sydney Trains Safety Management System (SMS) and regulatory obligations. You'll utilise the SMS and associated reporting systems to monitor and report on incidents, hazards and project safety performance trends to reduce risks and enhance safety outcomes. About you You have demonstrated experience in leading safety change initiatives, risk assessments, safety audits and assurance activities and establishing and embedding new processes, in complex, high risk operating environments, ideally within a heavy plant or maintenance setting. You hold relevant Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) qualifications or equivalent industry-based experience within a similar environment such as safety management, safety auditing and/or assurance. You're a proactive, solutions-focused safety professional able to engage, build trust and drive safety change with people across all levels of the organisation. You're confident working onsite with operational crews, supporting managers and raising and discussing safety issues where needed. You bring expert knowledge of WHS consultation processes and the ability to lead or support investigations and risk assessments, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively. This is a fixed term full time role to 21/06/2027 located on-site at Flemington and the salary is RC7 ($167,229 - $183,993 super). You'll play a key role in supporting the safe conduct of this project at the Flemington Maintenance Centre facility, helping to ensure compliance, reduce risk, and promote a strong safety culture.
