Job Title: Building Services Engineer (Mechanical / Electrical / MEP) Data Centre Projects Location: Melbourne, VIC Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role Were working with a leading global data centre operator to find a Building Services Engineer to join their Melbourne-based client-side engineering team. This is a great opportunity for an early-career engineer with around three or more years experience in multidisciplinary building services design whos ready to step into a client-side role on large, technically advanced projects. Youll support the engineering lead in reviewing designs, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring mechanical, electrical, and associated systems meet the high reliability and performance standards required in hyperscale data centres. This role offers direct exposure to the full project lifecyclefrom design and construction through to commissioning and operational handover across a growing portfolio in the APAC region. Key Responsibilities Assist with the review of consultant and contractor designs for MEP systems, ensuring compliance with internal standards, local codes, and project requirements. Support load calculations, redundancy checks, and equipment selection reviews for critical systems. Participate in design coordination meetings with architects, engineers, and contractors. Assist in the review of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) documentation. Contribute to the integration of mechanical and electrical systems with BMS and SCADA monitoring platforms. Help prepare as-built documentation and technical records for handover to operations. Monitor construction quality and flag potential risks or deviations from approved designs. Skills & Experience Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent). Minimum 3 years experience in multidisciplinary engineering design, ideally gained in a consultancy or design & construct environment. Familiarity with HVAC, electrical distribution, standby power, and controls. Strong CAD/Revit literacy and ability to interpret detailed technical drawings. Exposure to projects in data centres, healthcare, laboratories, or other critical facilities is an advantage. Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
