Trusted Autonomous Systems (TAS) requires an experienced software engineer keen to work directly with TAS – a proven innovation specialist in the Robotics, Autonomous Systems and Artificial Intelligence (RAS-AI) domain – and our Defence and civil sector partners, to accelerate the transfer of RAS-AI technology into capability. About Trusted Autonomous Systems TAS is an innovation and R&D house uniquely equipped to deliver world-leading robotic and autonomous systems with artificial intelligence to enable trusted and effective cooperation between humans and machines. Our aim is to develop solutions that allow robotic and autonomous systems (RAS) to be deployed at scale in one-to-many applications and as part of complex human-machine teams, safely and effectively, to transform civil and military operations. About the Role The successful candidate will lead TAS’ software engineering capability Core duties of this role are to: Lead holistic governance and management of TAS software product development and delivery. Lead formalisation of program-level software management systems, including DevSecOps frameworks and CI/CD pipelines. Manage, with the assistance of project leadership, the team of network engineers, software engineers, and software developers. Manage contractor staff who conduct software-related activities. Represent the interests of TAS to customers and in public forums. As a small business, this role within TAS also requires flexibility, with the successful candidate expected to participate in software development if the need arises. TAS is headquartered in Brisbane and has a presence in Sydney. The ideal candidate will be based in Brisbane, but candidates in Sydney will also be considered. This role will be remunerated in a range around $190,000-$220,000 plus superannuation, dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant. About You The successful candidate will have The follow criteria are mandatory for this role: Experience in software engineering governance and software team management. Experience managing the commercial deployment of software. Experience employing DevOps and DevSecOps frameworks for software development. Experience implementing and managing CI/CD processes for incremental software delivery. Experience with the rapid/agile development processes. Experience with hardware/software integration. Reside in Australia. Currently hold, or be eligible to hold, an AGSVA security clearance at NV1. The following criteria are highly desirable: Familiarity with Defence operations, or prior experience on Defence programs. An understanding of military command and control functions and architectures. An understanding of distributed operations and networking architectures. Prior experience developing software for R&D programs. Prior experience developing software for commercial programs. Prior experience delivering software for robotic and autonomous systems applications. Experience with any of the following: Linux-based operating systems, Team Awareness Kits, MIL-STD-6090 Cursor-on-Target protocol.
