The Role Based in Canberra, the Housing Team Leader will oversee tenancy management and housing services across SEARMS’ portfolio. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will mentor staff, manage complex tenancy matters, and ensure compliance with legislation, contracts, and standards. Your responsibilities will include: Leading, coaching, and developing the Housing team to deliver responsive, high-quality tenancy services. Appearing at and preparing for NCAT hearings, providing expert tenancy advice, and ensuring compliance with the NSW Residential Tenancies Act. Overseeing tenant sign-ups, lease management, rent reviews, arrears, and dispute resolution. Ensuring tenancy management policies and processes are trauma-informed, up-to-date, and aligned with compliance frameworks (NRSCH/ASES). Monitoring and reporting on tenancy KPIs, arrears, anti-social behaviour, and compliance. Building strong relationships with tenants, stakeholders, and internal teams. Driving continuous improvement in housing services. About You We’re seeking a housing or property management professional with deep knowledge of the NSW Residential Tenancies Act and proven NCAT experience. You’ll be confident in managing complex tenancy issues, providing advice, and leading your team to deliver excellent outcomes. You will bring: At least 3 years’ experience and qualifications in Property Management, or equivalent in Community Housing. Extensive knowledge of the NSW Residential Tenancies Act. Demonstrated experience with NCAT case preparation, presenting and advising at/for NCAT. Minimum 3 Years Management Experience Proven skills in tenancy management, dispute resolution, and stakeholder engagement. High-level organisational, reporting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and tenancy management systems (e.g., Console). Mandatory Requirements: Working with Children Check.
