Navantia Australia has been awarded the Designer Support Contract to provide comprehensive design and engineering support to all Navantia-designed ships in service with the Royal Australian Navy. Due to Navantia Australia’s ongoing success, we have exciting opportunities for a Lead Systems Integration Engineer to join the team out of its Garden Island, Sydney office and Darling Park Office. Operating under the Design Support Contractor (DSC) contract, you will support the delivery of combat systems integration projects and tasks for RAN ships. Responsibility includes the provision of engineering services, technical advice, investigations and solution development for the platform integration elements of the following (where applicable): • Combat Management Systems and Sensors (e.g. Radars and surveillance systems, Tactical Data Links) • Weapons and Sensor Systems (e.g. missile and gun systems, countermeasures, fire control systems, etc.) • Communications Systems and Sensors (e.g. terrestrial and satellite radio systems, Intercom, telephone and switching systems, IP networks and LANs, etc.) • Navigation Systems and Sensors (e.g. ECDIS, Navigation Radars, Inertial Navigation and gyroscopes, etc.) • Entertainment and Training Systems (e.g. Internet at Sea, Satellite TV, Entertainment systems and distribution, etc.) Your responsibilities will include: Provide high level of engineering technical competence based on relevant experience and knowledge. Complete combat system integration design activities for naval ship systems, applying robust systems engineering process. Undertake technical investigations, root cause analysis and solution identification. Undertake platform integration (including consideration of whole-of-ship and compartment integration, cabling, HVAC, electrical, weight, etc.) of combat systems to the ship platform systems. Deliver technical reports and technical documentation in accordance with established Navantia and customer standards. Work effectively within the broader Navantia Engineering Team to engage with different engineering disciplines in the development of new naval ship system designs. Plan and coordinate assigned engineering projects from concept through to delivery, including the development of project plans, schedule and engagement of internal and external stakeholders. Plan and administer design coordination meetings with engineering project stakeholders. Plan and administer Design Review meetings with the Client. Provide mentoring and support to junior engineers, as applicable. As the ideal candidate, you will have: Bachelor’s degree ‐ Engineering (Electrical) / Mechatronics Proven skills and experience in a related engineering function. Experience in a technical and industrial Defence environment. Demonstrated understanding of relevant combat system and communications systems and technology. Project Management, including management of task schedule, resourcing, budget and progress monitoring and reporting. Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision-making skills. Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a high-pressure environment. Ability to manage, prioritise and complete multiple tasks concurrently. Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships at all levels of the business and Clients.
