About the Role In the role of Bus Driver you will transport clients from their residence and return, including assistance with mobility from door to door and steps, as necessary. You will assist the Leisure and Lifestyle staff during the course of outings. The Bus Driver is to be responsible for the regular maintenance of the bus. Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to drive in the course of work. Be responsible for the safe loading, securing and unloading of passengers and the safe storage of equipment. Drive and park the bus in a responsible, lawful, safe and courteous manner and conduct safety checks on the vehicle daily. Arrange for regular service and maintenance of the bus, drawing attention to problems which have been observed and ensure the vehicle is clean at all times . Arrange for re-fuelling of the bus at appropriate times , taking responsibility for the fuel card and associated documentation. Maintain an up-to-date log book for the vehicle and manage all associated inspections and bus registration. Liaise with Leisure and Lifestyle staff to develop activities program and review prospective sites for entertainment value and accessibility, being involved in facility lifestyle activities where feasible . Assist the Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator & nursing staff with clients during outings and maintain a client- centred focus at all times. Understand and contribute to WHS regulations & continuous quality improvement. About You Previous experience driving a light mini bus , managing all facets of the bus and transporting clients. An appreciation of the issues faced by the aged and people with a disability. Sound knowledge of the Brisbane area and its surrounds. Ability to work as part of a team and to provide a warm, calm and safe environment. Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with staff, residents, families and external providers. Organisational skills for planning outings and excursions. Understanding of and act appropriately in relation to Workplace Health & Safety. Experience working with people with a disability and the aged will be viewed favourably What makes a difference for us: Current D Class – Light Rigid Drivers Licence and current First Aid certificate. Current QLD Transport Driver’s Authorisation (General Services). Proof of Vaccination Status as required by Legislation, Health Directives or WMQ Limited Policy throughout employment and prior to commencement.
