Your role at St John of God Subiaco Hospital We are seeking applications for a Patient Care Assistant to join our Day Surgery Ward at Subiaco on a casual basis. Our Ward is a 46-bed combined DOSA and Day Surgery Unit providing preoperative and postoperative care to surgical patients in a wide range of surgical specialities. These include Cardiology, Orthopaedic, ENT, Vascular, Gynaecology, Plastics and General Surgery. You will join as an integral multi-disciplinary team member providing a high standard of care for patients in the areas of patient care, patient transport and support of the nursing care team as directed. The Position All direct patient care is carried out under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurse/Midwife/Enrolled Nurses. Transfer patients using all forms of patient transport to all areas of the Hospital. All duties are carried out in accordance with the duty list. Perform manual handling of patients under supervision of Registered Nurse/Midwife/Enrolled Nurses. Assist Nursing Caregivers with the care of patients. Ensure privacy of patients is maintained. Understand role in an emergency and follow direction of the coordinator. Maintain safe environment for patient contributing to patient comfort needs. Contribute to an efficient and timely patient admission, transfer and discharge process. Assist Registered Nurse/Midwife/Enrolled Nurses in care of deceased patients. We are seeking a motivated individual who holds a Certificate III in Health Service Assistance (Client/Patient Services) or a similar qualification or is currently studying in a health-related field at a tertiary level.
