Who we are The Operational Intelligence and Coordination Branch is responsible for assessment, intelligence, operational coordination and responding to non-compliance for the division. We also support the First Assistant Secretary to understand the operational workload across the division. We are the central point for fit and proper person assessments and create the required reports for decision makers across the department. We provide profiling and targeting capability to determine vulnerabilities in supply chains and we develop operational and tactical intelligence insights to support decision making. The Tactical and Operational Intelligence teams support both tactical and operational intelligence tasks. Tactical tasks enable informed decision making across investigations, border targeting and compliance management, while developing analytical insights regarding suspected non-compliance. Operational tasks conduct broader regional and national-level analysis and engagement to identify new and emerging trends or threats, informing comprehensive CED operational planning, prioritisation and response. The key duties of the position include The Jobs The duties of a Senior Intelligence Analyst include, but are not limited to: • leading and coordinating the collection, analysis and dissemination of tactical intelligence to support decision-making and planning • conducting advanced analysis of complex and diverse data sources, using various analytical tools and methodologies, to identify threat entities, methodologies and networks • initiating, producing and coordinating high-quality, defensible intelligence products • providing insight, operational guidance and decision support to internal and external stakeholders based on intelligence findings and assessments, including the provision of timely and accurate intelligence products • developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (law enforcement, intelligence and security agencies) to facilitate information sharing, collaboration and the identification of best practices • contributing to the development of innovative analytic methods • developing and maintaining intelligence databases, systems and tools to enhance the quality and efficiency of intelligence operations • supervising, mentoring and training intelligence analysts and ensuring compliance with relevant policies, standards and procedures • contributing to a collegiate approach within the team and section that promotes a culture of flexibility and improvement, the sharing of expertise with others and active participation in team activities • providing professional leadership in your area of expertise to enhance the capability of both the team and section • evaluating and conducting quality assurance of intelligence processes and products and identifying areas for improvement and innovation • playing an active role in shaping the operational direction of the Tactical and Operational Intelligence Section • providing input to multi-agency task forces and project work, as required. Please note that this recruitment process will initially be used to fill two vacancies in the section and that the roles may be able to be performed from any of the locations listed above . The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
