The Chief People Officer will play a critical role ensuring that the Council's approach to people services is contemporary, values-based, evidence-driven, and an enabler to strong community outcomes. Success in the role requires significant executive experience in leading people and culture functions across complex muti faceted environments with strengths in organisational development and systems improvement. Reporting to an incoming CEO, you will be a member of the executive leadership team and a trusted advisor offering the strategic know-how to enable the organisation to move to a positive future state. Recognised as a highly driven people and culture executive who is confident at both the strategic and operational realms, your reputation for integrity and ethical leadership will be second to none. Experience gained in a public sector environment will be well regarded, along with tertiary qualifications in human resources, organisational psychology, business management or related field. The Organisation Hobsons Bay is a renowned seaside municipality west of Melbourne, covering much of the Port Phillip coastline, and includes diverse and distinctive neighbourhoods such as Williamstown, Altona, Newport and Spotswood. The municipality has a mixture of commercial and residential hubs and boasts a range of natural open spaces including ocean access, parks and gardens. With its strategic location near the CBD, the municipality is projected to experience rapid population growth, which will be supported by investment in infrastructure and community services. Hobsons Bay City Council is committed to strengthening its governance and integrity practices and has recently released a Listening and Support Process Report (1 July 2025) with 23 recommendations. These recommendations will shape the cultural and governance reform, and the priorities of the incoming CPO.
