We’re looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our team in Devonport and play a key role in the financial operations of our business. Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for ensuring sound financial governance, accurate reporting, and smooth day-to-day operation of accounting processes. This role is central to financial planning and budgeting, providing insights and support to help guide the company’s growth and sustainability. Key responsibilities include: Preparing end-of-month management accounts, financial analysis, and reporting to leadership. Managing cash flow forecasting, overseas supplier payments, and foreign currency transactions. Overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including debt collection and credit control. Managing tax compliance including BAS, GST, PAYG, payroll tax, FBT, and company tax obligations. Maintaining Fixed Asset and Financing Registers and reconciling balance sheet accounts. Overseeing insurance renewals, claims, and coverage adequacy. Reviewing contract terms and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Providing financial insights to support strategic planning and business proposals. Supervising and mentoring your finance team. Requirements We’re seeking someone with: 5 years’ finance management experience, ideally in an import/wholesale trading environment. A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CPA/CA highly regarded). Proficiency in accounting systems and reporting tools (e.g., PowerBI). Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws and financial compliance requirements. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across the business. Experience leading or supervising staff.
