About the Camp Howmans Gap Alpine Discovery Camp is an alpine centre and adventure camp located by Falls Creek, and managed by YMCA Camps. Catering to schools and groups year-round, the team at Howmans Gap run a variety of programs and activities to suit every group, from skiing and tobogganing in winter, to orienteering and mountain biking in summer. Featuring state-of-the-art accessible accommodation, cosy cottages, and full catering options, Howmans Gap Alpine Discovery Centre is the perfect place to explore the great outdoors, come snow or sunshine. About the Role As our Lead Cook, you will work within the catering team to ensure all campers receive delicious meals during their stay, and that kitchen assistants are well supported and guided through their day-to-day duties. You will be responsible for: Preparing and providing food for campers, including the coordination of special diets Applying best practice as outlined in the camp’s food safety program Undertake general cooking duties, including baking and pastry cooking Upholding the values of the YMCA at all times This is a casual role with an hourly rate of $36.59 per hour Super. About You You are a cook who is looking for some flexibility in your workplace, and possesses strong interpersonal and leadership skills, which will allow you to build strong and positive relationships with campers, colleagues and other stakeholders. You will be well-organised, committed to excellent customer service and have the ability to apply best practice as outlined in the camp’s Food Safety Plan and to ensure compliance with local government requirements and YMCA policies and procedures.
