Casual Gardening position Located on the Camperdown Campus Exciting opening for a motivated, enthusiastic, and suitably qualified Gardener to join the University of Sydney grounds team HEO 3 Step 1 $49.94p/hour plus Superannuation About the opportunity The University’s grounds are known for their local heritage and natural beauty. We have an excellent Open Spaces team who manage the maintenance, repair and replacement of the University’s landscape. We have an opportunity for an experienced Gardener to join the team and support this outstanding work. You will perform tasks associated with the maintenance and development of the University grounds. You will be ensuring that the University grounds are maintained to a high-quality standard, in a timely, cost effective manner to meet the needs of our students, staff and visitors. Reporting to a Senior Grounds Officer, your key responsibilities will be to: Maintenance of the university grounds and campus sites. This includes gardening, planting, weeding, pruning, mowing, edging, grounds cleaning, handling chemicals and any other related Open Spaces tasks. assist in ensuring property, plant & WHS elements are maintained in pristine condition. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Gardener who has: a certificate III Horticulture or equivalent is (required) a C class drivers’ license, and ability to drive a manual vehicle (essential) a valid Working with Children's Check or the willingness to obtain one demonstrated experience in horticulture such as garden, turf or landscape maintenance excellent communication and interpersonal ability to work flexible hours, in various locations sound knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office Suite of Applications. Sponsorship / work rights for Australia Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This role requires valid work rights for Australia. Pre-employment checks You will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical and functional Assessment Your employment is conditional upon the completion of all role required pre-employment or background checks in terms satisfactory to the University. Similarly, your ongoing employment is conditional upon the satisfactory maintenance of all relevant clearances and background check requirements. If you do not meet these conditions, the University may take any necessary step, including the termination of your employment. Working with Child Check requirement This position is designated as involving child-related work.
