About the opportunity We invite applications from enthusiastic, self-starters with good mechanical aptitude to join our team at Detmold Packaging. As a Machine Operator working in our SOS (Self Opening Satchel) team, you will produce bags for many well-known retail and industrial brands. You will be introduced to flexographic printing techniques and taught how to manufacture sustainable, paper packaging products in a safe and supportive environment. Reporting to the Production Supervisor and based at our Brompton site, your primary role will be to ensure consistent production while maintaining high standards of product quality and workplace safety. As part of your specific responsibilities, you will: Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhere to safety requirements. Perform machine setup in accordance with product specifications. Maintain machine run speed and efficiency at target levels. Minimise machine downtime through good manufacturing practice. Perform routine inspections and maintenance to ensure machines function at an optimal level. Proactively prepare the machine for the next product to ensure smooth and efficient transitions. Participate in continuous improvement activities as part of our CI Operating System. Collaborate with and support team members to improve team performance. Record production activities and actively communicate issues to supervisors. What you’ll need: A serious commitment to workplace safety and the ability to lead by example. Eagerness to learn and grow professionally. Ability to work with integrity, display initiative and be a reliable team player. An understanding of and commitment to achieving quality and efficiency targets. Good mechanical aptitude and a preference for hands-on work. Physical fitness and the ability to stay on your feet all day while setting and troubleshooting machine operation. Experience in similar environments will be viewed favourably, including operating machines, performing machine setups and carrying out minor maintenance tasks. We currently have a full-time opportunity to work Monday to Friday on one of our 3 Shifts (Day, Afternoon or Night) so we are looking for applicants with the flexibility to work across different shifts.
