Engineering Trades Australia is currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters for a variety of ongoing and upcoming opportunities across QLD and WA. These roles span shutdowns, long-term asset management, and project-based work across mining, processing, and industrial sites. You'll be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of critical mechanical plant and equipment, with FIFO, DIDO, and local options available. What’s on offer? 12-hour paid shifts on 8:6 or 2:2 rosters (site dependent) Competitive hourly rates up to $75 per hour, plus penalties and overtime (role dependent) FIFO available from Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns DIDO and local project options also available in QLD Flights, accommodation, and meals provided for FIFO roles Work across major mine sites, processing plants, shutdown projects, and oil & gas/refinery operations Projects include: WA Gold Sites – 2:2 even time rosters, shutdown and maintenance work QLD Hard Rock Mining – FIFO from major regional hubs Brisbane Metro Projects – Local work with strong rates and overtime Bowen Basin DIDO Shutdowns – Coal mining sites Oil & Gas Asset Management – Ongoing contracts, FIFO ex-Brisbane Asset Management Roles in WA and QLD – Fixed and rotating plant Experience we’re looking for: Mechanical maintenance on fixed plant including crushers, conveyors, mills, pumps, gearboxes, tanks, bins, and pipework Mining process plant experience (ongoing maintenance roles preferred over construction-only roles) Shutdown and project experience involving mechanical fitters and riggers Experience in oil, gas, or refinery maintenance environments highly regarded Experience across base metals, gold, lithium, zinc, and copper processing plants Requirements: Australian recognised Mechanical Fitter trade qualification (Cert III or equivalent) Minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance, shutdowns, or project work Experience with fixed plant and heavy industry preferred White Card, Working at Heights, and Confined Space (valid within 2 years) High-risk work licences and additional site-specific tickets S11 and Coal Board Medical – highly regarded for coal roles Gladstone Industry Medipass – highly favoured for Gladstone projects Valid C Class driver’s licence and reliable transport (for DIDO/local roles) Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening Full Australian working rights Immediate availability preferred Why work for Engineering Trades Australia?
