An exciting opportunity has become available for a self-motivated and experienced Overseer at Tanbar Station, based at Mount Howitt Station — an outstation of Tanbar that benefits from the annual flooding of the Cooper Creek system. This natural irrigation supports the production of high-quality pasture and underpins Tanbar’s reputation as a large-scale cattle growing operation in Western Queensland’s channel country. Our Overseer supports the Station Manager in the day-to-day management and operation of our station and plays a key part in maintaining livestock and infrastructure, and ensuring safe and work practices across all their activities Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with the planning, coordination and delivery of daily operational activities, including: • Assist in cattle yards and with mustering • Maintain waters and with the cleaning of troughs • Maintain road with grader and loader • Monitor livestock (including horses) health and welfare, promptly identifying issues and escalating when required • Assist in the maintenance and repair of fences, yards, water systems and other infrastructure • Pick up stranger cattle from neighbours • Unload / load cattle / feed cattle in yards • Monitor equipment use and report any damage or maintenance requirements • Ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
