The purpose of the Parramatta Salvos Community Choir (PSCC) is to build community, connections and confidence in people experiencing hardship and loneliness. The PSCC requires a Choir Master familiar with contemporary music and and open to exploring world music and other cultural singing traditions, as Parramatta Salvation Army is a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Community and wishes to be give expression to this diversity in the PSCC. The Volunteer Choir Master role is responsible for creating the program, recruiting choir members, organising rehearsals and PSCC events. The Choir Master reports to the Community Programs Coordinator and will be supported by other staff and volunteers in executing the program. Key responsibilities Program Development assemble a new community choir, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere with the aim to build community, connections and confidence in people experiencing hardship and loneliness. Recruitment of choir members advertise, and promote for new members creating a sense of belonging for all who come along Rehearsals organise and lead rehearsals and encourage members to attend rehearsals and participate in feedback around program improvement and ideas Qualifications and skills (desired/required) This role requires volunteers to have previous experience leading music ensembles and/or choirs Background check requirements Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation. Below is what is required for this role: As this role will be working with vulnerable people and leading a program, it requires a Police Check Time Required & Commitment: One day per week during school terms Development opportunities with this role: This role will give volunteers an opportunity to develop skills and build experience in working in community engagement and leading musical groups.
