Description About the Role Southern Rural Water is currently seeking a driven and strategic leader to join our team as the Team Leader Operations and Compliance (TLOC). In this role, you will lead the Groundwater and Rivers Operations Compliance Teams in the East region, driving operational excellence while fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture While an understanding of compliance requirements is important, this role is not solely about technical expertise. We’re looking for someone who can balance structure and consistency with the ability to think differently, adapt to changing circumstances, and bring out the best in their team in a regulatory environment. As the TLOC, you will oversee Water Management Officers across diverse locations, providing clear direction, mentoring, and support, while ensuring the team meets operational goals and delivers high-quality service to our customers and stakeholders. You will also be required to meet the requirements to be an Authorised Water Officer. As the Team Leader Operations and Compliance, some of your responsibilities will include: Leading and managing a geographically dispersed team, setting priorities, allocating resources, and monitoring performance to achieve outcomes. Interpret and apply relevant sections of the Water Act 1989 to meet SRW compliance objectives. Delivering high level customer service to internal and external stakeholders, addressing complex compliance issues, and providing guidance to promote adherence to water legislation and policies. Conducting regular meetings with direct reports, offering constructive feedback, coaching, and direction to ensure efficient and effective performance. About you The successful candidate for this position will be able to demonstrate some of the desired experience and abilities below: Relevant qualifications, such as a Cert IV in Government Investigation (or willingness to obtain). Proven leadership experience, ideally in a regulatory or operational environment, with the ability to adapt and think creatively. Strong people skills, with a track record of building trust, capability, and a positive team culture. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to view challenges from multiple perspectives.
