Job Description Media and Communications Advisor – Local Government | Western Sydney Are you passionate about shaping impactful communications and building meaningful connections? ACM is thrilled to partner with a local government division in Western Sydney to recruit a Media and Communications Advisor for a 12-month contract , commencing in March 2025 . This exciting role offers the chance to work with a progressive and collaborative Public Affairs team , driving positive community engagement and enhancing the Council’s public presence. About the Role As the Media and Communications Advisor , you’ll provide expert, day-to-day support and advice to the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, or Mayoral delegate , helping them represent the Council and its community with confidence and clarity. You’ll be instrumental in: Preparing concise briefing materials and supporting media responses. Managing media strategies to enhance the Council’s reputation. Supporting key stakeholders at events, activities, and media engagements. Ensuring smooth communication and collaboration with all stakeholders. Balancing competing priorities and meeting deadlines in a dynamic environment. What We’re Looking For You’re a skilled communicator with a passion for public affairs and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Essential Criteria Tertiary qualification in Communications, Journalism, Political Science, or a related field. Proven experience supporting executives, elected officials, or ministers with: Strategic and day-to-day communication needs. Preparing high-quality, concise briefing materials. Expertise in media relations, including crafting media releases and managing issues. A track record of managing competing priorities and negotiating with stakeholders. Ability to develop and implement media engagement strategies. Desirable Criteria Previous experience working in Local Government . Background in media or a similar advisory role.
