Urbis shaping futures your way! The Opportunity We are seeking a dynamic, future-focused Senior Consultant to join our Smart and Sustainable Places team. This role is within a specialized team in the National Planning Business Unit, expanding its capacity in energy and sustainability sectors. Leveraging your expertise, you will support clients with innovative advice and insights, primarily focusing on NSW but with potential national project involvement. You will: Provide services including advice on renewable energy, sustainability, land use, development capability, due diligence, planning approvals, smart city frameworks, and project management. Prepare planning applications and post-approval activities, such as Environmental Impact Statements and Environmental Management Strategies. Build client relationships through trust, quality advice, and expectation management. Write submissions, proposals, and advice tailored to client needs. Manage small to medium projects, including scoping, costing, tracking, and coordinating consultants. Identify and communicate issues affecting fee estimates and project timelines. Coach and mentor team members as appropriate. Contribute to quality assurance and the Planning team's Business Plan. Collaborate on multidisciplinary projects, ensuring delivery within scope, deadlines, budget, and desired outcomes. About You: Hold a tertiary qualification in Town Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 5 years' experience in Town Planning, with preferred experience in renewable energy and sustainability sectors. Understanding of smart city, sustainability, and resilience principles in project delivery. Strong grasp of impacts on the natural and built environment, and strategic policies. Interest and emerging skills in research related to innovation, energy, sustainability, and smart cities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement. Proactive, informed, and decisive in influencing outcomes. Ability to manage client priorities and expectations effectively. Positively challenge practices to achieve optimal results. Experience coaching and mentoring team members. Capable of managing multiple projects within deadlines and budgets. Why Urbis?
