The Kindergarten Teacher at Reddam House is dedicated to nurturing the holistic development of young learners, guiding them through the critical early years of education. This role involves creating a dynamic, play-based learning environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and foundational skills across all areas of development. You will will implement innovative and evidence-based teaching methods tailored to individual learning needs, helping each child build confidence and a lifelong love of learning. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Design and implement daily and term-based lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. • Deliver engaging and age-appropriate instruction across a variety of subjects, including literacy, numeracy, science, social skills, arts, and physical education. • Create a welcoming and well-organised classroom environment that supports exploration, play, and learning. • Use creative activities such as storytelling, art, music, and movement to stimulate children's interests and abilities. • Focus on hands-on, play-based activities that encourage exploration and discovery. • Use age-appropriate educational technologies and interactive learning tools to enhance the learning experience, making lessons more engaging and accessible. • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of all students, including those with additional support needs, to ensure each child is actively involved in their learning journey. • Establish and maintain positive behaviour expectations and routines that promote respect, cooperation, and a sense of belonging. • Conduct ongoing observations and assessments to track children's progress in all areas of development. Use this data to inform teaching and provide targeted support where needed. • Work closely with other teachers, support staff, and specialists (e.g., speech therapists, counsellors) to support student learning and well-being. • Regularly communicate with parents and guardians through various channels, including written reports, newsletters, and parent-teacher meetings, to share insights into their child's progress and discuss strategies for continued development at home. • Organise, lead, and participate in extracurricular activities, school events, and excursions, enriching students' educational experiences and ensuring all activities adhere to safety guidelines. • Participate in professional learning opportunities to stay updated with the latest research and practices in early childhood education and meet NESA requirements. • Actively engage in school-wide initiatives and events, and support the overall mission and values of Reddam House. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: SKILLS & EXPERIENCE • Proven experience working with young children, with a deep understanding of child development principles and early learning frameworks. • Ability to adapt teaching styles to engage all learners, utilising creative methods such as music, drama, art, and outdoor learning. • Excellent ability to communicate effectively with young children, colleagues, and parents, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment. • Familiarity with differentiating instruction and supporting children with diverse needs, including those with learning differences or additional support requirements. • Comfort with integrating technology into teaching practices, using tools to enhance both learning and administrative tasks. QUALIFICATIONS • A recognised teaching qualification such as a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood or Primary) or equivalent. • Accreditation with NESA (New South Wales Education Standards Authority). ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS • Provide lunch & playground cover and assist with pick up & drop off duties. • Willingness to attend school events outside regular hours as required (e.g., performances, parent-teacher interviews, etc.).
