Mum’s Charcoal & Grill in the heart of Pialba is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Chef to join our growing kitchen team. We serve up mouth-watering charcoal-grilled meats, burgers, and modern Aussie favourites—and we’re building a team that loves food as much as we do. The Role: We are looking for a skilled and motivated Chef to contribute to the success of our kitchen operations. As our Chef, you’ll take the lead in preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen, and ensuring every plate delivers on flavour and presentation. The position will work closely with the Head Chef and management, and the duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Menu planning as per customer demand and market requirements within the company budget, in liaison with the Head Chef and the management. Prepare and cook dishes according to the menu and standardized recipes at Charcoal & Grill. To monitor par levels of the food stock and kitchen equipment, and inform management when needed, perform stocktake and food items as requested by management, manage maintenance daily, and report any issues to management. Oversee food preparation, ensuring freshness, quality, and adherence to food safety guidelines. Ensure consistent food quality and presentation in line with café standards. Rotating stock, ordering and maintaining food stock, food portion control, waste management, and stock purchase (receipt and storage); Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to kitchen policies and procedures. Contribute to the development of a positive and collaborative kitchen culture. Adherence and awareness of Australian food & safety health standards & codes of practice. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to hygiene and sanitation standards. About the applicant: A genuine passion for cooking and creativity. Trade qualifications (i.e., Cert III or IV in Commercial Cookery). At least 1-2 years of experience as a Chef in a busy kitchen. Thorough understanding of food safety standards and HACCP. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and teamwork abilities Ability to lead a team, encouraging and ensuring all team members are performing and working in a positive environment.
