The Role As a Cook at Swagat, you’ll be hands-on in preparing and presenting a wide range of authentic Indian dishes. You’ll work alongside experienced chefs, support daily kitchen operations, and make sure our guests enjoy a consistently high-quality dining experience. Key Responsibilities Prepare, cook, and present a variety of Indian dishes to restaurant standards Assist with spice blends, sauces, breads, curries, and tandoor items Operate and maintain commercial kitchen equipment, including tandoor ovens Ensure quality, consistency, and portion control during service Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety Support stock management, ingredient rotation, and minimising waste Keep the kitchen clean, efficient, and well-organised Guide and support kitchen hands or junior staff when needed What We’re Looking For Essential: Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification) 1–2 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine – curries, biryani, tandoori, breads Ability to work under pressure in a busy service environment Solid understanding of food hygiene and safety standards A team player with good communication skills Highly Regarded: Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or Commercial Cookery Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management Previous experience in Indian restaurants in Australia or overseas Creativity and passion for authentic cooking traditions Why Join Us?
