About the Role The Community Service Delivery Team at CFA is currently seeking two casual Fire Spotters. The roles require vigilant and detail-oriented individuals with strong awareness, capable of monitoring fire behaviour, weather conditions and local terrain with accuracy. The casual work is driven by demand, and minimal notice to work is provided ie minimum 24 hours to 4 days' notice at most. The purpose of these roles is to ensure the early detection of unplanned fires during the Fire Danger Period and at other times as directed. Therefore, you must demonstrate commitment to risk management and safety, exercise sound judgement in routine operational decisions while ensuring compliance with CFA standards and procedures. One position will be located at Mt Anakie Fire Tower and the other at Mt Gellibrand Fire Tower. The positions will suit people with specialist skills in map reading, understanding fire behaviour, suppression techniques and radio communications. You will also bring the ability to communicate clearly and work effectively under pressure in isolated environments and extreme weather conditions, at times.
