Blue Mountains City Council is currently seeking an experienced and qualified Conference & Events Coordinator for a 3 year term contract to organise at least two conferences annually as well as coordinate other events at the Planetary Health Centre. The program for the Planetary Health Centre has expanded and additional staff are required. This will be an income-generating position through the organisation of paid events, conferences and leasing of venues/sites at the Planetary Health Centre and funding for the position has been allocated in our budget estimates for the next three years, including Bushfire Building Conference (from BMEE) and the Asbestos and Hazardous Materials conferences. Conferences have previously been coordinated by an external Conference consultant but it is more cost-effective to have an in-house Conference & Events Coordinator. To be successful in this position you will have the following skills and experience; • A demonstrable history of organising international events, conferences, conventions and trade shows with a planetary health focus and operating within circular economy principles. This would include having relevant international relationships that can be leveraged to develop the reputation of the Planetary Health Centre on a global scale. • At least five years experience in Professional Conference and Event Management, from small scale community events to international conferences. • Associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Conference and event management or equivalent industry experience. • Strategic thinking and business skills to guide programming that responds to the mission of the Planetary Health Centre at the same time as creating an ongoing income stream to support its continued development. • Excellent negotiation skills and demonstrable experience in obtaining sponsorships and developing partnerships. • Administration skills including proficiency in managing websites and data management; online booking and registration systems; budgeting; committees; and reports. • Highly developed skills in event logistics including managing virtual events, speakers and delegates, facilities, accommodation packages, travel and entertainment. • Marketing experience including social media, print media, email marketing campaigns and new media.
