Job Description YOUR ROLE The Emergency Management Lead plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, preparedness, and compliance of MACS schools and offices in accordance with emergency and critical incident management requirements. Reporting to the Manager, Risk, this role leads the development and implementation of emergency management strategies, business continuity planning, and organisational response coordination across MACS. You will oversee the creation of emergency plans, deliver training and exercises, and act as the Incident Commander during emergencies and critical incidents, ensuring a calm, coordinated, and effective response. This role works in close collaboration with internal teams including Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Infrastructure and Capital Delivery, and Child Safety to provide integrated emergency management support to schools. You will also represent MACS at state forums and provide expert advice to leadership, Board Committees, and school principals on emergency risk and compliance. WHAT YOU WILL DO Manage the emergency management portfolio for MACS, including strategy, operations, and compliance. Act as the primary contact during emergencies and coordinate incident responses across schools and offices. Lead post-incident reviews, risk identification, and continuous improvement of emergency plans. Design and deliver training programs to improve preparedness and response capability across the organisation. Prepare reports and provide advice to the Executive Leadership Team, Board Committees, and external regulators. Maintain and update emergency management policies, procedures, and digital resources. Support the development of MACS’ business continuity framework and plans. Represent MACS at relevant external forums and emergency management working groups. ABOUT YOU You bring demonstrated experience in emergency management within a large and complex organisation. You have deep knowledge of Victoria’s Emergency Management Arrangements and compliance standards for schools. You have successfully led responses to emergencies and critical incidents and delivered programs that improve organisational resilience. You are an effective communicator, with strong skills in stakeholder engagement, briefing preparation, and policy development. You have the ability to lead calmly under pressure and coordinate across functions to deliver safe and effective outcomes. You are self-motivated, organised, and can manage high-stakes scenarios with confidence.
