The Chief Technology Officer Branch delivers a range of ICT services to the agency including enterprise architecture, infrastructure, and service management. ICT services are delivered through a select sourcing model, with a mixture of in-house and outsourced resources. The Chief Technology Officer Branch is committed to building the agency's information technology capability by providing resilient, modern, and secure systems informed by data and insights, and to upskill teams to develop innovative new products and services. The IT Infrastructure Section is responsible for the management and problem resolution of the agency's ICT infrastructure, including: ICT on-prem infrastructure On-premises, remote and cloud networks Messaging systems File storage and management Database administration Software Delivery The key duties of the position include You will focus on managing and improving the AEC's Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform. Reporting to the AWS Cloud Operations Platform Lead, you will assist the infrastructure team to deliver positive outcomes for the day-to-day matters relating to the management and support of AEC's AWS platform and systems. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the delivery of electoral events and day-to-day operations through an improved maturity of AEC's systems. The role is responsible for undertaking very complex and/or sensitive work, under broad direction, utilising expertise across a range of activities relating to IT Service Management. The role will undertake the management of the AWS account, working with senior members of the team to implement best practices and ensuring reliability, scalability and applicable security compliance measures are in place to protect our systems and data. The role will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, investigating and resolving complex issues as it relates to the AWS environment and supporting the broader infrastructure team, as required. This role will participate in a on-call roster, to support the broader infrastructure and systems, the role will also participate in training to ensure skills are maintained in alignment with industry trends and advancements. To excel you'll have: Mandatory Demonstrated knowledge and experience in and/or ability to learn various AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudFormation, Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), etc. Demonstrated experience in implementation and management of security controls within AWS, including Identity and Access management (IAM) policies, security groups, encryption, and key management. Ability to learn AWS networking concepts, including VPC, Route 53, Direct Connect, and VPN. Experience with AWS monitoring and logging tools like CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AWS Config for ensuring platform health and compliance. Willingness to learn troubleshooting skills and understand how to optimise AWS resources for performance, cost, and security. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS Cloud Development Kit to automate infrastructure deployments and management. Ability to work across geographically dispersed teams and working effectively with technical and non-technical teams and collaborating effectively with team members to meet outcomes. Desirable: Relevant qualifications in AWS. Understanding of compliance standards and experience implementing governance frameworks within AWS. Demonstrated knowledge of IT frameworks, such as ITIL. Demonstrated knowledge of Commonwealth frameworks, including ICT frameworks
