The Product division is accountable for the key activities of product design, pricing and underwriting of Auto & General’s insurance products. The Head of Product Risk & Governance is a critical leadership role responsible for establishing, embedding, and maturing the risk management framework and practices within this key division. Operating as the risk enabler for our "first line of defence”, this role leads a team of Line 1 Risk professionals supporting the identification, assessment, control, monitoring, and reporting of risks. This team will manage product relevant customer remediations and guide Line 1 in adherence with Auto & General's risk appetite, internal policies and APRA prudential standards. This role will proactively partner with all parts of the Product division to foster a strong risk culture, provide expert guidance on risk mitigation, and drive continuous improvement in all risk and governance related matters, including control effectiveness. What experience you’ll bring Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience. 10 years’ senior leadership experience within the financial services industry, preferably in general insurance. Leadership and management experience commensurate with 4-5 years in a mid-senior level risk management role within a comparable organisation environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, engage and develop others. Specific experience and associated understanding and knowledge of the current and emerging regulatory, commercial, technology and operational trends in Australia. Self-motivated with an ability to work autonomously to manage competing priorities. Ability to build and sustain effective relationships both internally and externally. Strong negotiation and influencing ability. Position Accountabilities Strategic Risk Management & Governance: Champion and embed the Three Lines of Defence model, leading the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process for Product, maintaining the divisional risk profile, and ensuring effective risk governance, including sound supplier management and business continuity planning. Risk Identification & Assessment: Partner with leaders in the Product division to proactively identify, assess, and aggregate emerging and strategic risks, providing expert analysis on the impact of business strategy, process, policy, and external changes on the division's risk profile and appetite. Incident & Issue management: Guide Line 1 business owners in their effective management and ownership of incidents and issues, while supporting the Chief Product Officer in overseeing all incident management activity in the division. Control Effectiveness & Improvement: Support Line 1 to define, monitor, and report on the effectiveness of Product controls, driving continuous improvement and aligning internal controls, detection, and response capabilities with the organisation's risk appetite. Compliance: Support the Product division's readiness for regulatory engagements (e.g., APRA reviews), regulatory change, collaboratively facilitate internal and external audits, and demonstrate unwavering compliance with all relevant prudential standards. Management of Actions: Drive the timely resolution of audit findings, regulatory observations, and internal risk assessment outcomes. Customer Remediation: Oversee the company’s customer remediation activity in compliance with Regulatory Guide 277. Stakeholder Engagement & Liaison: Serve as the primary Line 1 liaison for Product risk with Line 2 (Risk & Compliance) and Line 3 (Internal Audit), collaborating effectively with the Central Line 1 Risk team and supporting Business Unit Risk Forums. Risk Culture & Capability Uplift: Cultivate a strong risk culture within the Product division, identifying and leading risk capability uplift initiatives, and acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on regulatory and industry compliance requirements to provide advice and education.
