About the Employer Our client is a family farming business that has been in operation for over 75 years and has diversified to produce bananas, papaya, sugarcane, cattle and avocados. Our client is directed by the family’s 3rd generation and is the largest banana producer in Australia, employing more than 500 people. This vertically integrated business also deals in ripening and wholesale marketing of their own produce, as well as other growers. Our client now has an opportunity for experienced Diesel Fitter - Mechanic to join our team in Lakeland, QLD. About the Position This is a permanent full-time position, working a 4-day week (38hrs) allowing for a 3-day long weekend to take advantage of everything our beautiful region has to offer! Reporting directly to the Farm Manager, the Diesel Fitter - Mechanic will be responsible for but not limited to the following tasks: Repairing, servicing and maintaining all farm equipment, including tractors, paddock vehicles, bagging machines, forklifts, heavy machinery and packing shed equipment Working with the mechanical team Ensuring all farming equipment is safe to operate Ensuring all service records are up-to-date Ordering parts utilising our in-house ordering system Fit, install and maintain mechanical plant and equipment as required Other duties as required by management Position Requirements The successful candidate will be “hands on”, team orientated and possess the ability to prioritise challenging work demands whilst ensuring a commitment to safety and a positive workplace culture. It is essential that you possess/demonstrate: Mechanical trade qualification including but not limited to: HV Diesel Mechanic, Diesel Fitter, Mechanic qualifications may be considered depending on experience. Agricultural knowledge and experience desirable but not necessary Strong commitment to Workplace Health and Safety & Continuous Improvement Strong leadership and interpersonal skills Effective time management and communication skills The successful candidate will be offered on base salary ranged from $77,000 to $83,000 annually plus superannuation.
