With long-term approvals secured and a clear growth outlook, this mine is a cornerstone operation producing high-grade thermal and semi-soft coking coal. Due to internal movements, the business is now seeking an experienced Technical Services Superintendent to lead the medium-term planning function at its Hunter Valley site. About the Role Reporting to the Technical Services Manager , this leadership role is responsible for overseeing the medium-term planning function and providing direction across mine planning and design activities. You will lead a team of mining engineers, working closely with the broader Technical Services group and operational departments. The position covers planning horizons from quarterly schedules through to life-of-mine, with accountability for producing quality designs, driving scheduling accuracy, and supporting ongoing approvals and studies. This role offers a genuine opportunity to step into a senior planning position at a large and complex operation, where you will influence both day-to-day outcomes and long-term strategy. Key Responsibilities Lead and develop the technical planning team, Deliver quarterly through to life-of-mine plans, designs, and schedules, Reconcile production performance and identify improvement opportunities, Collaborate with Technical Services, Operations, and Corporate stakeholders, Apply software capability (Deswik, Spry) to planning outcomes, Contribute to prefeasibility studies and long-term approvals planning, Uphold company values and drive a strong culture of safety and accountability. About You Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or equivalent), Minimum 8–10 years’ open cut coal mining experience , ideally with dragline exposure, Demonstrated leadership capability with direct reports, Proficiency in Deswik, Spry , and other planning/scheduling tools, Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, Resilience and adaptability in a large, high-pressure mining environment.
