About the Role As Financial Controller, you will oversee all aspects of the hotel’s financial operations. You’ll manage a dedicated team, while mentoring and supporting their professional growth. Beyond financial stewardship, you will help cultivate a positive team culture, ensuring engagement, development and high performance. You will also work closely with the General Manager and the owners, maintaining transparency, accuracy, and compliance across all reporting. This is a hands-on role where your ability to balance commercial acumen with team leadership will be highly valued. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily finance operations, including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and month-end reporting. Ensure compliance with Australian tax and legislative requirements. Deliver accurate financial reports, forecasts, and analysis to ownership and leadership stakeholders. Drive efficiency and continuous improvement across financial systems and processes. Support and mentor team members, building knowledge of hotel finance and fostering career progression. Lead audits and ensure best practice compliance. Partner with operational leaders to optimise departmental performance, with a focus on labour costs and departmental P&Ls. Engage confidently with owner, auditors, and external stakeholders in a highly transparent environment. About You Degree-qualified in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CA/CPA desirable. Previous hotel or hospitality finance experience essential. Strong technical knowledge of P&L management, general ledger, and tax legislation. Proficiency with hospitality finance systems (e.g., Sun Systems, Opera, Zambion, or similar). A collaborative leader with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop a small finance team. Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders. Culturally aligned – approachable, humble, and team-oriented with no ego.
