Prague house cares for residents who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness. Most residents have a mental health diagnosis or an acquired brain injury. Work includes multi-tasking including personal care support for residents, laundry duties, kitchen duties and escort duties to name a few. About the Role To provide personal care services to the Unit in line with organisational policies and procedures that ensure the needs of the residents are addressed within appropriate legislative standards to ensure the safety and welfare of the residents. Classification for this position will be IN38 ($50,500 per annum). POSITION PURPOSE The Healthcare Worker (HCW) works under the delegation and supervision of the registered nurse and is accountable to the Prague House Manager or delegate for their work performance. The Healthcare Worker (HCW), under the direction of the Clinical Care Shift Coordinator (CCSC) or equivalent, will work as a support person to the Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses to provide delegated aspects of consumer care, and support each individual to make decisions about their care. Within this role, all elements of direct and non-direct patient care will be delegated in accordance with the professional judgement of the supervising Registered Nurse, and in accordance with the level of achieved educational preparation and assessed competence of each HCW. The Registered Nurse remains accountable for all elements of delegated care. POSITION DUTIES Contribute to positive resident outcomes by ensuring all interactions with residents are undertaken with a demonstrated respect for every person’s right to have their autonomy, and freedom of choice supported in all aspects of the care they receive, and their independence supported as much as they desire. Participate in delegated aspects of resident care including but not limited to: Assistance with personal care and hygiene Assistance with nutritional needs Assistance with positioning, transfers and mobility Assistance with elimination needs. Monitor through direct observation those residents considered at risk of harm to self and/or others, and report any escalations in risk to the CCSC Maintain a safe environment and report incidents promptly to supervising staff. Assist with making beds and keeping the environment uncluttered and tidy. Communicate effectively with residents, families and the wider team. Participate in documentation as relevant.
