Opportunity to work at the Westmead Applied Research Centre as a Senior Research Fellow Part time (0.5 FTE), fixed term until September 2026 Base salary starting from $156,103 (pro rata) 17 superannuation About the opportunity Westmead Applied Research Centre (WARC) was established by the University of Sydney in collaboration with the Western Sydney Local Health District, to specifically address the causes of chronic disease, with a focus on translational research that addresses the specific needs and circumstances of vulnerable patients and communities. WARC’s aim is to create, evaluate and apply innovative clinical and digital health approaches to reduce the burden of cardiometabolic and other chronic conditions. WARC celebrates a research approach that thinks and acts flexibly, aims to do more with less, embraces technology in health care, sees co-design and partnership as necessities for translation and impact, and consistently views its activities through the lens of value and equity. WARC is seeking a Senior Research Fellow who will bring an impressive record of published work or demonstrated scholarly activities and continue to build on their national reputation for research excellence. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the Academic Director of WARC, Prof Clara Chow AM, as well as collaborating with team members and partners on key projects within the research program Your key responsibilities will be to: build and maintain a reputation for academic excellence through independent and innovative contributions to research, expanding knowledge and practice in the discipline disseminate research knowledge and facilitate knowledge transfer to drive impact maintain a research profile, including publication in academic or professional journals and engage in keynote addresses lead successful competitive research grants and/or generate other research income by exploring diverse funding opportunities maintain quality, standards and excellence in research activities and output undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required. About you doctorate or PhD in a relevant field A background as a General Practitioner will be viewed favourably an established network of academic, industry and professional partners and stakeholders reputation at a national level as influential in expanding knowledge within the discipline significant experience conducting original research and engaging in scholarly activity a developing knowledge and understanding of the key strategic issues in the higher education sector.
