Roles and Responsibilities Checking daily preparation lists to ensure ingredients and products are ready for service. Preparing and seasoning ingredients for a variety of Japanese-style dishes. Following recipes, portion controls, and adjusting meals to customer requirements. Cooking to order using a range of techniques and ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest quality. Monitoring cooking and refrigeration equipment to ensure correct temperatures. Assisting with menu planning and developing new and special dishes. Supporting procurement, stock rotation, and storage management to minimise waste and maintain quality. Assisting in the cleaning and organisation of the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and storage areas. Ensuring all safety, hygiene, and food quality standards are met. Providing guidance and training to kitchen staff, ensuring proper kitchen procedures are followed. Required Qualification and Experience At least 1 year experience as a Cook Cert IV or above in cookery Required Knowledge and Skills Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, ideally with Japanese cuisine. A passion for food, especially grilled meats and authentic flavours. Strong organisational and teamwork skills. A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety. Proficiency in cutting and cooking techniques and principles.
