Katherine West Health Board Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Preventing Tech-based Abuse Project Officer This position is well suited to someone who has a recognised tertiary degree (or equivalent) in Social Work, Health Promotion, Community Development or related field. With an understanding of Aboriginal cultural values, and commitment to the advancement and self-determination of Aboriginal communities. This position is for a male Project Officer, who will work primarily with male community members and young men from the Katherine West region in alignment with cultural protocols. Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia. Position Description Applications close 12 September 2025, Full time contract until 30 June 2027 About the Opportunity The Preventing Tech-based Abuse Project Officer plays a central role in delivering culturally responsive and community-led initiatives with Aboriginal men. This role will focus specifically on engaging Aboriginal men in the co-design, development, and implementation of targeted initiatives. These initiatives aim to challenge harmful social norms, foster accountability, and promote respectful, positive behaviours around technology use and relationships. Responsibilities will include (but not limited to): Build and maintain respectful, collaborative relationships with Aboriginal men, elders, community leaders, and partner organisations across the Big Rivers Region to ensure culturally safe and inclusive project delivery. Support the rollout of up to three training sessions for RRG members, covering leadership, respectful behaviour, digital safety, and accountability. Plan and support the delivery of community consultations to understand local needs, cultural context, and barriers to addressing tech-based abuse. Contribute to the development and review of culturally appropriate resources and training materials, ensuring they align with community needs and the KWHB Cultural and Health Literacy Resource Review (CaHLRR) process.
