About the role Maters Epilepsy Unit is on the search for a full-time Senior Neurophysiology Scientist. This exciting role will see you join our existing team of a Lead Neurophysiology Scientist and 2 EEG scientists, to participate in the Mater Epilepsy Unit’s diagnostic programme including out-patient and in-patient EEG, video-EEG and stereo-EEG for epilepsy presurgical evaluation. The Senior Neurophysiology Scientist will bring high-level specialist knowledge to a complex clinical case-load, and will have a key role in development of departmental clinical practices, procedures and protocols, as well as education and training of team members. Salary range: $64.64 - $69.55 per hour (HP4) plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 access to many staff benefits! What you’ll be doing Typical duties of the role include performing and reporting tests as described below: Routine EEG including provocation methods using international 10-10 and 10-20 electrode array systems Sleep deprived prolonged EEGs Ambulatory EEGs Video EEG monitoring using international 10-10 electrode array system Intracerebral monitoring, cortical stimulation and EEG analysis using stereo-electroencephalography (SEEG) Electrocorticography (EcoG) Ictal SPECT Possibility of nerve conduction studies Possibility of transcranial magnetic stimulation The Senior Neurophysiology Scientist wll also Contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols that support the continuum of care. Provide clinical practice supervision and contribute to clinical education of more junior Clinical Measurement Scientists, pre-entry level students and other team members and collaborators (nurses, junior doctors) Contribute to clinical research activities within the Epilepsy unit About you Our Senior EEG Scientist will have: Bachelor of Science or Applied Science or Biomedical Science. Prior experience in EEG in a clinical setting Prior experience of EEG used in epilepsy including long-term video-EEG monitoring Ideally, experience of intracranial EEG recording Eagerness to learn Strong team player Why join us?
