Hastings Deering is seeking an experienced Scheduler to join our Services Support Team, supporting both internal and external projects. In this permanent, full-time Monday to Friday role, you’ll be responsible for creating and maintaining detailed execution schedules in close coordination with Project Owners, Supervisors, and key stakeholders across the business. You’ll play a key role in aligning project activities with available capacity, ensuring schedules are realistic, risks are identified early, and progress is accurately tracked. In addition to supporting individual project delivery, you’ll also contribute to broader scheduling initiatives aimed at standardising best-practice scheduling processes across Hastings Deering, helping drive consistency, efficiency, and transparency across all workstreams. What You'll Deliver On: Collaborate with Project Owners/ Supervisor and key stakeholders to validate project requirements and align on clear objectives. Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and plans using appropriate project management methodologies. Translate strategic goals into actionable plans, ensuring timely execution and alignment with project milestones. Build and manage forward-looking schedules, publish regular updates, and monitor progress to keep projects on track. Facilitate proactive planning sessions to maintain alignment and drive effective communication across teams. Monitor project performance alongside Project Owners/Supervisor/Key Stakeholders, forecast completion timelines, identify schedule variances, and recommend recovery strategies where needed. Collaborate effectively over Microsoft Teams to coordinate schedule updates with regional and international branches Support planning activities at different sites as required, including occasional travel Compare actual progress against baseline schedules and contribute to the development of corrective actions. Track actual effort versus planned effort, providing clear and concise performance reporting. Drive continuous improvement by identifying efficiency opportunities and engaging stakeholders in solution-focused conversations. Ensure deliverables align with deadlines, escalating risks or roadblocks early to avoid delays. Communicate schedule changes promptly and transparently to all relevant parties. Embed regular Project Online housekeeping to ensure data integrity and system performance. Apply a continuous improvement and 5S mindset to refine scheduling practices and enhance efficiency. Paid parental leave options Salary continuance insurance Free on-site parking About You As a highly motivated individual with very good organisation, technical, and communication skills, you will work with a team of professionals to deliver project excellence. The ideal candidate will come from a mining, earth moving or construction background and bring with them project planning and scheduling expertise that can be built upon within HDAL, although other backgrounds are welcomed. A successful teammate will have experience in: Experience in effective planning/scheduling of time bound projects. Mining / Operational experience is preferable Strong understanding of our industry Experience with rebuilds and equipment assembly (new builds) is desirable Extensive experience as a project planner or scheduler. Proven experience in project scheduling using Microsoft Project and Project Online, with regular housekeeping and maintenance of schedules embedded as best practice. Desirable: Experience as a Project Online Administrator or strong technical understanding of Project Online governance. Strong continuous improvement mindset with a proactive approach to streamlining scheduling practices. Working knowledge of Power BI for reporting Desirable experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX. Analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines with competing priorities. High level of motivation and confidence with strong interpersonal skills. Be a self-starter and a high degree of initiative is essential. Efficient and effective communication skills. Familiarity with or commitment to applying 5S principles in digital and physical work environments.
