The Opportunity The Overlays Team is responsible for the design and implementation of the whole-of-portfolio derivative overlay programs for all funds managed by FFMA. These programs currently comprise currency, credit, commodity, equity, inflation and interest rate derivatives. The Overlays Team aims for continuous improvement in its investment processes and infrastructure. This role will lead the management of external relationships with the Fund’s managers, banks, central counterparties and clearers who ultimately execute or provide the platform for the execution of the various derivative overlays for our funds. The RM will be a senior representative to external parties and be responsible for ensuring the Agency is effectively leveraging our external partners. Another core part of this role will be the monitoring and managing of the expanded set of active mandates in overlays. Tasks & Responsibilities Strategically leverage key relationships Create opportunities to add value to our Funds via the alignment of interest across the tri-party relationship of Future Fund | Manager | Bank. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all the Fund's interaction with counterparty organisations and the value we place on them with respect to execution, service, research and idea generation. Foster key strategic partnerships and appropriately communicate the value we provide counterparties, noting they may operate across multiple product lines and geographies. Contribute to derivative platform leadership Work closely with the Director, Overlay Platform to keep manager and counterparty documentation, operational arrangements and processes efficient and up-to-date with current portfolio needs and regulatory requirements. Mature the overlays manager monitoring capability Design and maintain efficient manager monitoring, reporting and due diligence efforts with overlay investment managers, including the new suite of enhanced beta managers. Keep abreast with the peer manager universe and proactively benchmark and assess manager performance. Foster strategic partnerships and work with other sector teams to promote whole of fund manager relationships where appropriate. Overlay insights and innovation Actively source, filter, assess and communicate relevant overlay ideas from counterparties/managers back to the overlays team or broader investment team in a structured way. Demonstrate thought leadership and collaboration by facilitating the adoption of new and innovative overlay strategies which address total portfolio needs. About You Qualifications A tertiary education or equivalent experience. While not essential, a degree in economics or finance would be considered an advantage, as would postgraduate studies, a CFA, or equivalent. Knowledge and Experience Preferably strong experience across front office trading, structuring, portfolio management or specialist marketing of multi-asset class OTC and exchange traded derivatives, including but not limited to equities, foreign exchange, rates and credit. The experience will likely have been gained at an investment bank or an institutional fund. Demonstrated ability to deconstruct complex derivatives into their constituent components and to price those instruments. Experience in assessing counterparty performance would be an advantage. Demonstrated ability to carry out projects which could lead to portfolio, process, or systems changes. Familiarity with Bloomberg and/or Thomson Reuters and proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook required. Experience with/knowledge of off-the-shelf derivative pricing and management systems would be an advantage Please note that this opportunity is only open to APS employees and you must be an Australian citizen.
