With a newly upgraded facility, production line and workforce, Urban Caravans is positioning itself to continue supplying their highly sought-after OFF-ROAD and On-ROAD caravans across Australia. We are now seeking a qualified and experienced Mechatronics Engineer to join our expanding team. Broadly, your key responsibilities with include: Using CAD and electrical design software to create precise engineering drawings and integrated models, including mechanical, electrical, and control systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and caravan manufacturing capabilities. Managing design reviews and implement design changes for both mechanical and electrical systems, including minor PLC-based automation adjustments and system improvements. Preparing and reviewing technical documentation, such as wiring diagrams, specifications, and technical reports, ensuring accuracy and alignment with mechatronic engineering best practices. Conducting risk assessments and electrical safety audits, ensuring that all caravan designs meet regulatory requirements, including standards related to embedded control systems and onboard electronics. Collaborating with production and electrical teams to troubleshoot integrated system issues during assembly, supporting smooth handover from design to manufacturing and improving system reliability. Working alongside the Operations Manager to refine production and system integration plans, focusing on optimizing both mechanical assembly and electronic component installation processes. Creating and maintaining technical documentation such as Bills of Materials, electrical component lists, and PLC input/output mappings, based on detailed engineering specifications (e.g. chassis layouts, battery wiring, appliance control, etc.). Liaising with suppliers to procure electromechanical components that align with quality and functional requirements for caravan systems, including actuators, sensors, and wiring modules. Collecting, analysing, and reporting on system performance data (e.g. electrical loads, control logic reliability, component efficiency), with a focus on continuous improvement in mechatronic functionality. Ensuring all engineering designs and processes comply with Australian Standards and safety guidelines, particularly those relevant to low-voltage electrical systems and automation in the caravan industry The ideal candidate must have: A relevant Degree qualification; and no less than 12 months relevant work experience in a similar role Great attention to detail Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent organizational abilities.
