Primary Job Purpose • To develop and maintain the product portfolio for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Coil and Packaging (metal) products. • Develop new and improve existing research methodology/protocol, in line with the Business strategy, project and R&D functional standards, to gain insight into new developments. • Provide technical support to local teams (commercial, operations, procurement etc). Key Accountabilities • Submissions to customers that follow guidelines and have expected results / performance (identify and address results that are not in line with expectations) • Develop a formula within formulation guidelines (eg. Select best pigmentation that considers cost, durability, metamerism, factory suitable formulations, seeking guidance as required). • To co-ordinate with the appropriate teams (eg. commercial, operations) to ensure smooth introduction of new or modified products. • Offer solutions to own and other teams to resolve issues or implement improvement initiatives. • Support production problems solving with solutions that meet product technical requirements. • Be actively involved in change control process • Follow safe work practices for personal and equipment safety • Manage own priorities, seeking clarification as required • Correct use of methodologies, tools and systems • Ask appropriate questions to clarify requirements, expectations and critical performance parameters • Document results following the appropriate reporting system • Have a general understanding of how a customer uses our products • Interact with customers and suppliers Experience & Competencies • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry / Polymer Science or equivalent • 3 or more years of experience in the Industrial Coatings Industry (or chemical manufacturing industry) • Good understanding of the coating technology platforms • Ability to discern colour • Deliver projects / tasks on time and as per plan • Effective organizational skills and management of multiple projects • Pro-active and shows high level of ownership • Problem solving own issues independently, actively participate / contribute in more complex problem solving situations • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, influencing, results orientated, problem solving and project management • Good team player and be able to work in a cross-functional team environment. • A can-do attitude, organised, self-regulated and with a continuous improvement mindset. • Microsoft Office advance for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project AkzoNobel has a passion for paint.
