ALS Geochemistry is looking for Fire Assayers to join our Fire Assay team at our facility in Malaga , where you will play a crucial role in the analysis of precious metals. Key Responsibilities: Accurately weigh samples and add flux reagents as part of the fire assay process. Operate high-temperature furnaces (900 - 1100°C) to fuse mixtures and extract metals such as gold. Perform cupellation and prilling to collect and prepare metal samples for analysis. Inspect samples, fusion pots, lead buttons, and prills to ensure quality and accuracy. Record and report any anomalies to maintain the integrity of the assay process. Follow strict safety procedures and proactively identify potential hazards in the workplace. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team at the entry level, with a focus on developing their skills to become fully proficient Fire Assayers. We also welcome candidates with leadership aspirations or prior leadership experience in other fields, as we are committed to identifying and nurturing future leaders. Full training will be provided to support your growth, development, and career progression. This is a casual position that operates on a weekly rotating roster of mornings, afternoons and nights. You must be available to work from Monday to Friday for 8-hour shifts. The starting hourly rate is $34.78 , with additional shift allowances of 15% for the afternoon shift and 20% for the night shift. As you gain experience in this role, you will have the opportunity to secure a full-time position. Additionally, penalty rates apply for weekends and overtime (optional), which are added on top of the advertised hourly rate. A permanent full-time position may be offered to the right candidate.
