The Role An exciting newly created opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded funds lawyer to join a nimble and growing in-house legal team. The successful candidate will report to and assist the Head of Legal and Compliance with the delivery of timely, high quality and commercially focused legal services, aligned to the strategic and commercial drivers of the businesses. In addition, the Legal Counsel will work collaboratively with key business stakeholders to help fulfil legal, risk and compliance obligations of the business and the Funds. The Responsibilities Advise on fund development and maintenance including establishment, consolidation and/or decommissioning Manage the legal risks of the content of offering documents such as PDSs, IMs, PPMs, TMDs, Design & Distribution obligations. Support the marketing team to ensure marketing plans and materials are compliant with local and offshore regulations. Manage regulatory compliance under Australian and offshore regulatory obligations Provide transactional support drafting, reviewing and negotiating on a broad range of commercial contracts Respond to regulatory queries and manage external counsel as required. Enhance legal processes by improving precedent documents and policies, investor communications, and governance frameworks. Assist the Head of Legal and Compliance with ad hoc governance projects as required. About You 3-6 years’ PQE with funds, financial services, or investment management expertise gained in a well-regarded law firm or in-house environment. Sound knowledge of AFSL obligations, ASIC policy, and Corporations Act requirements. Commercially astute, with the ability to balance legal risk and business strategy in a fast-paced environment.
