The key duties of the position include The Role The role requires knowledge and experience in assurance of regulatory systems. The main tasks are assessment of compliance and the scoping and conduct assurance activities against regulatory frameworks in the Defence Maritime domain. The ability to evaluate the impact non-compliance against regulations, review and analyse artefacts and documentation, and scope and execute suitable assurance activities are key tasks. Assessment and subsequent reports will be submitted for regulatory review and decision. The role is primarily office based with some travel to conduct assessments required. Maritime experience and the ability to understand links between legislative frameworks, particularly maritime and its practical application will assist in the role. About our Team The Office of the Defence Seaworthiness Regulator (ODSwR) provides the Defence Seaworthiness Authority (Chief of Navy) with independent assurance that maritime mission systems (warships, naval auxiliaries, and defence vessels) across the Defence Enterprise, comply with the Regulations as outlined in the Defence Seaworthiness Management System. Led by the Director-General Seaworthiness, ODSwR comprises of five Directorates and embraces the principles of a data driven regulator to identify, analyse, report on and resolve the impact of emerging hazards and risk to Seaworthiness in Defence. The core functions of ODSwR are to: Promulgate and Administer Regulations; Gather and Analyse Safety and Environment Data; Monitor and Assess Compliance; Provide Continual Assurance; Engage, Educate and Communicate with the Regulated Community and Peer Regulators Deliver Internal Business and Enabling Support. Our Ideal Candidate T he ideal candidate can research and understand the practical application of regulatory documentation and business procedures and processes, providing detailed written assessments for submission. Attention to detail and document writing skills using Microsoft programs is required. The ability to undertake root cause reviews of incidents, conduct analysis and record observations clearly and communicate these effectively is also a key attribute. Experience with data analytics and risk based decision making is desirable. The selected person will need to work in an office based small team environment and independently.
