Home | Housing Australia About the role Reporting to the Executive Leader Help to Buy, this role is responsible for Line 1 risk management and lender compliance. With these dual accountabilities you will be responsible for developing and embedding sound risk management practices within the business as well as the developing and implementing the lender compliance monitoring framework. This is an important, high impact, hands-on role supporting a flagship program for Housing Australia. The Associate Director Risk and Lender Compliance will work across a broad group of internal and external stakeholders. Key internal stakeholders include Product, Operations, Program Partnerships, IT, Legal and Line 2 risk. Key external stakeholders are auditors, risk consultants and audit and operational teams at participating panel lenders in the Help to Buy Program (i.e. major banks and other retail mortgage lenders). Key responsibilities Development and delivery of policies and procedures to enhance the risk management and compliance practices of the Help to Buy team and Housing Australia’s partners in Help to Buy Partner with leaders to identify and manage risks relating to Help to Buy, including the development and oversight of obligations and controls registers. Development of monitoring programs, and related reporting. Embed the control self-assessment framework across the team to identify control weaknesses and inefficiencies and work with management to develop action plans for improvements Maintain and drive adherence to the risk and compliance calendar Collaborate with Line 2 Risk and Compliance teams Support the maintenance of effective relationships and engagement with panel lenders Maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including lender panel members, to ensure continued compliance to risk and compliance requirements. Support the implementation and delivery of Help to Buy Scheme through proactive risk management reviews and input, including the completion of risk in change assessments Skills and experience 7 years plus relevant risk management or compliance experience in an Australian financial institution (preferably in retail mortgage lending) Experience and knowledge in risk management practices, methodologies and tools, including risk assessment, control design, control testing, issues and incidents Proven experience in working with business stakeholders to identify, review, assess and challenge risks and implementing effective controls to manage risk and compliance Proven experience in managing and resolving incidents and implementing recommendations from audit and risk reviews Demonstrated experience in compliance, assurance or other oversight related activities, preferably those associated with retail mortgage lenders or brokers Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to influence others Strong problem solving and analytical skills, and an ability to think strategically.
