Our Opportunity Due to continuous growth, NEPEAN Power are seeking an experienced Leading Hand with a Carpentry background to join our workshop team. This is a full-time opportunity based in our Thornton and Rutherford Workshops, with an immediate requirement to lead a major project in Rutherford. The successful applicant will be onboarded promptly to ensure they are fully prepared before site mobilisation in October. Your Role As a Leading Hand Carpenter, you will take charge of a small crew, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard. While you’ll be hands-on in the workshop, your main responsibility will be to coordinate, guide, and support your team across a variety of Switchroom projects for industries including mining, renewables, water treatment, and aviation. Key responsibilities include: Supervising and motivating carpenters and trade assistants. Allocating tasks and monitoring progress. Ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and 5S housekeeping standards. Coordinating with other trades such as Electricians and Boilermakers. Performing quality checks and providing on-the-job training. The Right Person We are seeking someone with: Carpentry Trade Certificate III. 3 years in construction, with at least 2 years in a leading hand or supervisory role. Strong leadership and team coordination skills. Ability to interpret drawings and meet deadlines. Personal hand tools and a current Driver Licence (required). Relevant tickets (Forklift, EWP, Dogman, Confined Space) highly regarded.
